What’s Inspiring Me Now
So, more of that ugly May Gray today. Saturday there was hope, it even broke into the 70’s for a while. Then it came back, grayer than before. Sigh.
I’m trying to focus on the positive though. A few things that have been inspiring me this week:
A Photo Editor post directs us to Albert Watson’s new website and, man, this guy has got a body of work. Really beautiful images from all over the world. The music is a nice touch, too. Sort of a mashup of ambient, classical, eastern, mariachi (really!) and electronic. Watson is a true artist and it’s well worth spending some time on the site. Literally hundreds of stunning photos. It inspired me to pickup his monograph from Phaidon to get a little closer look.
Speaking of new sites, Chase Jarvis has launched his new site. Along with the crisp and clean design you’ll see loads of fantastic new images (including some from the shoot I worked on). Also, some really interesting “projects” that got me thinking. Great abstracts, and gesture in the “Seattle” project book (Also digging “The Animals at Night” background music in the profile movies). Judging by the traffic on his blog, it’s getting some use. Nice work as usual, Chase.
Some other Photo Editor news: Leslie Burns-Dell’Acqua (Burns Auto Parts, a photographer consultant) interviews Rob Haggart in the current issue of Picture magazine. I imagine it was fair turn since he interviewed her a few months back. Both interviews are worth a read.
Later tonight it’s the 4 year anniversary for my friends over at Air Conditioned lounge and I’ll be stopping in to lift a glass in their honor. Great job, pallie! Thanks for keeping San Diego cool!
Finally, Austin TX is on my mind today. I’ll be traveling there at the end of the month so some research is in order. Not sure what to do, where to go or what to see yet but any advice is greatly welcomed. I’m staying in the heart of downtown so I imagine there will be plenty to fill my time. Of course, photos will be forthcoming.

Stay inspired. Your work is so good. I am so inspired by people with talent. By people with inspiration… KC
